While you can modify it to be used with other versions, this literature unit is meant to be used with the original version of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis.
The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis tells the tale of four adventurers as they discover a fantastical land called Narnia. The story begins during World War II when four siblings are evacuated from London to escape the Blitz. They are sent to live with Professor Kirke in the English countryside. There they discover a wardrobe that is actually a secret doorway to a magical world named Narnia. Adventure ensues when one of them is captured by power of the White Witch, but just when all hope is lost, the Great Lion Aslan returns! His appearance signals a great change….and a great sacrifice. This story is filled with fun and memorable characters who display all kinds of character traits which make for wonderful discussions! Although it was written and published first, it is the second in a series of novels by C.S. Lewis called The Chronicles of Narnia. The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe was listed in Times 2005 list of the 100 best English-language novels written since 1923, and has since been published in 47 foreign languages.
Each of my Classical Literature unit studies contain educational lessons, activities and a fun lap book that your students will work on as they progress through the book. They also include book reports, vocabulary, critical thinking, story timelines, and comprehension. These studies are geared towards grades Kindergarten-4th, but can probably be adapted for older students as well. I really designed these units to be a fun addition to reading the classics.
I didn’t want them to be too stressful for myself or my kiddos, but instead give them something fun to do along with the stories to help them remember what they’ve learned in a fun hands-on way. The lap books included are wonderful for reviewing subject matter, and a great creative interactive homeschooling tool.
In this unit students will discuss character qualities, villains, heroes, courage, bravery, sacrifice, forgiveness. The study also includes vocabulary terms, a book report, and story predictions.
They will also get to sample a fun recipe for Turkish Delight!
The units also include forms for predicting story plots, character analysis, identifying the protagonist and antagonist, a story timeline, and a final book report on the novel.
